It's been 4 years since I last listened to John Mayer for reasons that I'm now over and past.
There's no denying that Mayer is one those singers whose live performance you enjoy more than the recorded version.
Here are 5 of my favorite live performances of his.
Shall we ?
Slow dancing in a burning room
His guitar technique is to die for!
What I like about this performance is that it's so simple. He's wearing worn out jeans and a t-shirt that says I'm cool and I know it but I don't care. He's swaying and doing that leg thing he does in all of his live performances and it's the most zen thing ever.
Featuring an audience that knows how to enjoy music.
2. Who says
Don't worry about being stoned, because who says you can't?
At the beginning he tells the story about how the song came to life and it's so simple it'll make you smile. And when the song starts you understand what he was trying to convey as you'll know that in whatever moment and no matter what, you can interpret it the way you want and it can mean to you what it means to you!
3. Your body is a wonderland
So you're telling me that to him this song was about a 14 year old girl? How can a 14 year old have such depth to his feelings?
Well, his voice will take you to Wonderland for sure.
4. I don't trust myself (with loving you)
Honestly? Just enjoy this one.
His vocals live are a dream. Watching this performance always makes me think of how can someone be this good live. The simple and small gestures he makes makes the performance even better as you can feel that he's lost in the music which makes you loose yourself to it too.
Plus, let's not talk about the guitar solo at the end.
5. Belief
The guitar. The guitar people. If you've never thought about playing it, he's going to make you start.
You are so going to dance to this one.
Okey, can we first establish a fact? This entire concert is a gem.
Once you get to Mayer's live performances there's no going back, you're not getting out. You'll spend the entire day watching them all and then replaying them.
Enjoy and thank me later.
Enjoy a few minutes of good music with this post. I'm sure they'll turn to hours but who's complaining.
