Pera Palas'ta Gece Yarısı, get ready for a fairy tale people because it's about to go down...

In history of course!

What can I say, one of my favorite Netflix shows this year and maybe even ever.

The set, the costumes, the music the...NO, I shouldn't be getting ahead of myself. Let's take this nice and slow with a list of what I LOVED about the show. Yes honeys, no cons, just positives today.

Let's start the countdown to MIDNIGHT shall we!

  1. The acting

Quality! No others words but quality acting.

I watched the show on the bus on my way to Paris and all I could think about was how well the acting was. It didn't feel forced or...acting. It didn't feel like acting at all, it's as if Esra, Ahmet and Halit were real people roaming around old Istanbul making me fall for them for no reason.

2. The humor

Two words. Britney Spears. How much I replayed that scene is a question my replay button can't answer. Cause it's tired!

The out of nowhere lines that make you crack. The dynamic between Esra and Ahmet abi (that's what you'll call him too after watching the show). Them acting as detectives and failing miserably, them running around trying not to be obvious but doing anything but that.

Also, Esra's driving is just so cliché it made me lose it. She's me!

You will laugh in every single episode of the series, trust me.

3. The history glimpse

Atatürk is in it, does that sell it?

The Pera Palace, yes it's real!

The costumes that tell of an era where Istanbul was still occupied.

The fight for independence and the fight Turkish people showed in the face of the British occupation each in the only way they knew how.

4. The story

If time travel doesn't sell it I don't know what will.

The mystery, the friendships, the freaking slow burn romance and everything in between. I loved it all and I want a season 2 now.

I don't care about spoilers and quite frankly they won't give out the story because it's in the details. It's in how Esra fights for what she believes in and in what Ahmet knows must take place and in what Halit dreams to achieve. It's everything!

5. The female lead we all deserve

In every single scene I was internally screaming: Girl represent!

She was your typical driven today's woman that has fight in her and knows when to share her opinions. Well sometimes things would've been better if she just *cough* boasting about Atatürk to the British officer *cough*. But who wouldn't have done the same right? I mean I would so talk trash in front of my enemies if I thought they wouldn't understand, so Esra honey you're excused. And forgiven because we got a story out of it.

But let's talk WOMAN. She stood up for herself when she was being mistreated by her family, she talked and didn't hold back and that was so satisfying because it's been a while since a female lead did that in such an empowering way. She refused to back down from her fight and when people called her weird she owned it.

Needless to say it was such a joyful ride this series. The only complaint I have is the number of episodes. I mean seriously Neftlix. I NEED MORE! GIVE ME MORE!
